Double-pitched, single-pitched, and polygonal tent structures: which is best?

| AmaranthIdea |

At AmarantoIdea we have been making tensile structures for over 20 years and we often get asked this question: double-pitched, single-pitched or polygonal tent structure? In reality, as in many cases in our profession, There is no real answer. It depends on the client's needs, the size of the facility, and the features we'll list shortly. In the meantime, let's look at the differences between the various types.

Single-pitch tent structure

La single-pitch tent structure it is said "mono" precisely because it is equipped with a single slope. In this case, we don't have a gable roof, but a single-pitched roof. As can be deduced from this characteristic, the single-pitched tent structure It is the most used for all those structures that are connected – on one side – to buildings or other structuresWe talked about it in detail in our article “Tent structures connected to buildings"
As you will see, we are talking about ideal structures for the covering of goods stored outside the warehouses industrial, especially if the need is seasonal.

After this description, it won't be difficult for you to understand what is meant by a double-pitched tent structure, the most popular choice among our customers!

Double-pitched tent structure

The double-pitched tent structure is a structure with cusp ceiling Leaning on two sides. Just like a classic house drawn by a child! Due to its very nature, the single-pitch roof is the most suitable structure for all stand-alone constructions, which are not anchored to other buildings but only to the ground.

AmarantoIdea double-pitched roofs are able to offer excellent performance even on large dimensions with certain reliability regarding the resistance to atmospheric events, snow loads and wind. The supporting skeleton of our tensile structures is made of steel or aluminum, lightweight and resistant and with customizable interiors.

For this reason, double-pitched tent structures can be adapted to a wide variety of uses: from industrial warehouses to event facilities.

But what considerations should be made between the two types and which is the most appropriate based on the size of the area involved?

In any case, we are sure that our experts will be able to advise you best!

The issue of water drainage: canal and infiltrations

One of the features that must be taken into account when choosing between a single or double pitched structure is the water drainIn the case of single-pitch structures, with a single slope, this is directed to a single point. Here it will therefore be necessary to install a special gutter or channel capable of receiving and draining rainwater. But be careful: in the case of very large surface areas, the channel may not be large enough to allow for effective drainage of all waters.

To avoid infiltration, therefore, it is better – in the case of significant width – to use a double pitch system in which the drainage channels run along the entire perimeter of the structure, ensuring adequate drainage speed.

The width and the light between the pillars of the single-pitched and double-pitched tent structure

One of the major advantages of tensile structures is their cost-effectiveness compared to prefabricated masonry structures. This advantage, however, is nullified in the case of excessive size.

Let's explain better: with very large sizes and a span between supporting pillars greater than 20 metres, the truss should be strong enough to nullify the economic advantage.

Therefore, for very large spaces, in addition to choosing a double-pitched marquee, which is more suitable for large spaces, it will be necessary to pay attention to the clearance between pillars. If it exceeds 20 meters, it is better to use two connected tent structures to avoid seeing costs rise.

But what about the polygonal tent structure? We mentioned this type at the beginning, but we haven't explored it in depth yet. Let's take a look!

Polygonal tent structure: unusual and elegant

We have to admit, polygonal tent structures they are not yet so widespread in Italy. Despite having enormous potential! The main difference with single and double pitched structures lies in the shape of the ceiling, which in this case is arched and modern.

Polygonal tensile structures are certainly very scenographic And therefore suitable for concerts—the acoustics provided by the bow are also excellent—trade fairs, and gala events. While they could also be well suited for industrial use, at AmarantoIdea we recommend looking at different solutions for this purpose, especially since the costs vary greatly!

Double-pitched, single-pitched, or polygonal tent structure: how to choose

As we said at the beginning, the elements to consider when choosing a structure are:

  • the size and height of the installation area;
  • the intended use;
  • the budget;

In any case, we are sure that our experts will be able to advise you best!
